The VLT tyre inspection system uses stereo imaging to measure
The VLT tyre inspection system is installed just after the roller brake tester. The measurements are done while the wheels are rotating and so the entire circumference is checked. This takes only a few seconds. The test results are printed (per axle) on the brake tester test report. The system uses stereo imaging to check the tyres. There are 2 digital stereo cameras per wheel. Clever software takes care of the rest.
VLT3972 for light vehicles requires subframes in order to install it in the conctrete floor. This will lower the camera units a few cms so that vehicles with very low ground clearance at the front can easily drive over.
VLT3982 for heavy vehicles can be installed on the concrete floor without the use of subframes, but we advise using a subframe. This lowers the height above ground of the unit.
- tread depth of the tyres
- sideslip (toe-in / toe-out of the steered wheels)
- tyre under / over pressure indication
